Danielle completed her DNP project on-location here at Skintastic Aesthetics, focusing on female sexual health and wellness, as it is a passion for her to promote optimal health and well-being in women of all ages, rather than allowing it to be continually "swept under the rug" by less compassionate providers.
Danielle does not believe that it should ever be "okay", or considered "normal", for a woman to experience embarrassing symptoms such as urge, stress, or retention incontinence (UI), and she does not believe it is okay that society has normalized this either. Danielle first came to want to support this issue, due to personal experience with urinary incontinence, and because of the number of commercials she has seen in which healthy, young women are portrayed as being happy and "sexy", while wearing adult undergarments for incontinence, basically, glorified diapers. To her, this is NOT cute, it is NOT okay, and it is NOT normal for women to be told, "It's just a part of life", or "it's just a normal part of getting older".
For the record, urinary incontinence at any age, or for any reason, is NOT normal! Danielle was told this exact thing during her time in nursing school. She was told by one of her instructors that urinary incontinence is never normal, and there is ALWAYS, an underlying, medical cause. This is something that has stuck with her all of these years, and is the reason she decided to pursue treating female, urinary incontinence as the focus of her DNP studies and cumulative project.
Danielle wanted to focus on providing appropriate, targeted UI education to women, that explains what urinary incontinence is, and summarizes risk factors, signs and symptoms, and most importantly, treatment options and resources for treatments. Via 3 separate, educational guides, Danielle highlighted these things, and helps women understand that there are far more treatments available than they may realize, particularly, non-surgical treatment options for UI. While UI may not be readily curable, it is indeed manageable, and women can greatly reduce their symptoms, and embarrassment, by electing to treat UI.
** Here at Skintastic Aesthetics, the treatment option for UI that we are most passionate about, and offer, is the PRF V-Shot. The way this injection works for UI, is that first numbing cream will be applied inside your vagina, just 2cm within past the urethra, and allowed to rest while the PRF is prepared. A small amount of blood (less than 2 tablespoons) is taken from you via a blood draw, spun in a centrifuge, and then the platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is extracted while the remaining red blood is discarded. The PRF is re-injected into your anterior vaginal wall, after the numbing cream is removed and the area is appropriately cleansed. The injection itself, is relatively quick and causes minimal pain, and can be repeated as often as needed for optimal results.
The V-shot is highly affordable, quick and easy, and has no true downtime, though you may have minor spot bleeding, and tenderness for a couple of hours or a couple of days. The purpose of the PRF is to begin stimulating collagen and elastin production to the vaginal wall muscles, which support the bladder, increasing their strength over time and reducing symptoms of urinary incontinence.
Because the procedure is all-natural and safe, there is little risk of adverse reactions or any kind of complications. No ongoing pain, healing, downtime, or scars needed! Click here to read more.
