What Are Chemical Peels and Microdermabrasion?
When you run your hands over your face, does your skin feel smooth and soft or like sandpaper? If it feels rough, the outer skin layer may be covered with dead and damaged skin cells that can make your complexion dull and uneven. At Skintastic Aesthetics in Littleton, CO, our chemical peel and microdermabrasion facial treatments provide you with multiple choices to reveal more radiant skin. Medical director and board-certified nurse practitioner Danielle Sanders performs chemical peels with exfoliating solutions (such as glycolic, salicylic, trichloroacetic, and lactic acids) and noninvasive skin resurfacing with microdermabrasion.
Chemical peel treatments clear away dead, damaged skin cells using a special solution on the skin that causes the top layer to peel off. Peels help decrease skin abnormalities, like scars, fine lines, wrinkles, dry patches, hyperpigmentation problems, and more. Microdermabrasion is a quick and effective treatment that removes the surface layer of dead skin so the complexion appears brighter and healthier. Contact our practice for a consultation with Danielle who will create a custom treatment plan to fit your concerns and goals.
How Do Peels and Microdermabrasion Work?
At our Littleton, CO office, our team provides chemical peels in several levels (light, medium, and deep) to meet our clients' skin needs and goals. During your appointment at Skintastic Aesthetics, we will have you lie in a relaxed position to administer your peel. We will make sure your skin is clean before applying the personalized solution to your face, neck, or both. We will massage the solution onto the skin and allow it to work for a specific length of time. Then, we will clean the peel off your skin and apply a neutralizing agent. You may want to bring sunscreen and a hat to wear outside after the procedure to avoid sun exposure. Our skin care experts address specific skin concerns and sensitivities using three varieties of chemical peels by SkinMedica®:
- Illuminize®: This noninvasive, superficial peel is perfect for clients who are new to chemical peels, producing glowing and radiant skin with no downtime.
- Vitalize®: One of our most popular and gentler peels, this treatment diminishes fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, pigment irregularities, and acne, erasing the signs of aging skin.
- Rejuvenize®: Our strongest peel penetrates into deeper skin layers to exfoliate and substantially improve your complexion.
With microdermabrasion, a member of our team will run a handpiece along your skin as the tool both polishes and vacuums the dead skin and crystals. Although the process feels unusual, it is not considered painful so you won't need a numbing cream or local anesthesia. The microdermabrasion treatment may be applied evenly over the chosen areas with more care in delicate areas, like around the eyes. After the process is complete, your skin will be lightly cleansed to remove any leftover debris before a moisturizer, chosen for your skin type with sunscreen, is applied.

They also offer the most extensive cosmetic treatments I have every seen. Danielle provides the highest level of care and treatment for her patients. Jeff, the office manager is efficient and highly knowledgeable of payment and insurance options that yield the best treatment costs out there. I highly recommend this office and its amazing team.
Danielle & Jeff are absolute sweethearts. They are super fast to respond to emails, are very welcoming and seem very experienced and passionate about what they do. I came in for 1 syringe of lip filler. It was my first time ever but Danielle was very comforting and explained every single step during the procedure. She also does a full dental block to get you all number up so I didn’t feel a single thing once she did the filler itself. I am definitely a bit swollen today but even though I bruise easily, I have NO bruising at all because she took her time. I will add some pictures once I’m all healer up. :) Thank you Danielle & Jeff for making this a pleasant experience. 🌹
I saw Danielle regarding hormone replacement. The labs she ordered were thorough and informative. I was thankful to be able to get in quickly for pellets.
Danielle has such a light hand, Botox doesn’t hurt too bad when she does it. She’s also not pushy with trying to upsale me. I have been to other places where they are pushy with their products. Danielle asks what you want and what you are comfortable with. She also will tell you truthfully if she thinks a product will work for you. She’s also funny and nice that’s why I keep going back.
Danielle is amazing! She was recommended by a friend of mine for my first injection experience and am so happy with my results and all around experience at Skintastic Aesthetics. Danielle gave me a fantastic breakdown of services and what to expect to help gauge what would be best for me in my price range.

Peels and Microdermabrasion FAQ
Will my face hurt after a chemical peel?
Depending on the peel used, you might have mild discomfort during the application process. You may feel some stinging if you get a lighter peel; however, this can be alleviated with a small fan. Deep or medium peels are good for deeper skin issues and give you longer-lasting results, but they usually are more uncomfortable. Numbing cream, medications, and soothing ointments can be applied to minimize your discomfort during the chemical peel. Danielle or a member of her skin care team will explain post-treatment skin care to extend your results.
How much does microdermabrasion cost?
The price for microdermabrasion treatments can be discussed in your first appointment with a skin care professional. After you talk about your goals and they assess your skin, your custom treatment plan will be created. Skintastic Aesthetics often has specials on skin treatments like microdermabrasion plus discounts if you buy a package with several sessions.
What level should I choose for my chemical peel?
Which level of chemical peel is best for you will depend on your unique skin concerns and aesthetic goals. During your consultation, we will help you decide which type of peel is right for your skin. A few factors you might want to consider are your overall health, your skin type, how deep you want the peel to work, how long you can spend in recovery, and what you want the peel to accomplish. Initially, it's better to select a lighter chemical peel and decide how you like the results.
